Steel Storm 2013

From February 28 up to March 1st 2013, the Force Commander Reserve (FCR) conducted a joint fire exercise with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) in the  Naqoura region.

For two days, Steel Storm exercise allowed shooting training for all the operational units of the FCR while strengthening cooperation between UNIFIL and the LAF.

French (VBL, VBCI and VAB) and Lebanese (M113) armored vehicles, equipped with various weapons on board (gun 7.62, 12.7, 20 and 25 cannon and PGM rifle), succeeded one another on the shooting range south of Naqoura. Nearly 15,000 cartridges of all calibers were fired at distant targets from 400 to 1400 meters. The French military also practiced shooting on machine gun superstructure in order to develop skills of combat shooting from vehicles and improve the efficiency of the shooter.

Joint Pioneer Exercises

From 15 January to 15 February 2013, the engineering section of the Force Commander Reserve (FCR) conducted several weeks of joint exercises between French and Lebanese sappers.

Joint Maneuvers between French and Lebanese Armies

From January 29 to February 2, 2013, the  infantry company of the French FCR (Force Commander Reserve) was deployed in the eastern sector of the UNIFIL area of ​​operation, within the Indonesian battalion.

During five days, sections of the 2ecompagnie du Régiment de Marche du Tchad (RMT) conducted joint patrols with Lebanese, Spanish and Indonesian soldiers allowing the FCR to perfect its knowledge of the area of ​​operation. Technical instructions, presentations and shooting equipment also punctuated schedule of the Marsouins which were able to try the US M4 carbine.

The Serbian Army contingent in Lebanon

The contingent operational involvement of the Serbian Army in multinational operations of the United Nations in the Republic of Lebanon (UNIFIL) began today after the vehicles and equipment of the Serbian contingent transported to the port of Beirut arrived to destination.

Members of the Serbian Army in Lebanon are part of the Spanish contingent, and engage in a period of six months.

Two Serbian Contingent BOV-VP M86 ACVs of the UNIFIL on southern Lebanese roads.

The Serbian contingent and its vehicles: 5 BOV-VP M86 ACVs, 7 Puch 300GD utility vehicles and 2 TAM 150 trucks.

Serbian BOV in Lebanon

Newly coming to Lebanon and for the first time in history are the Serbian Army vehicles. In order to support its 150 troops contingent serving within the UNIFIL, the Serbian Army sent to Lebanon 5 BOV-VP M86 ACVs, 7 Puch 300GD utility vehicles and 2 TAM 150 trucks.

Argonaut 2012

The Cypriot National Guard held from October 9 till October 12 for its fifth consecutive year the international exercise ARGONAUT 2012 in Larnaca area. Air, Sea and Land Forces from 11 countries including France, the UK, Germany, Greece and Lebanon participated in this exercise.

The exercise included the “ESTIA” Plan, which concerns the reception of civilians from a war zone in the Middle East. The exercise covered also issues concerning the entire range of asymmetric threats in the contemporary operational environment, such as confronting terrorist attacks, piracy, crisis management etc., which require the harmonious and effective civil – military cooperation.
